VITAMINA RIDDIM
Various Artists
The Vitamina riddem is a rockers track with heavy Roots Reggae horn lines featuring artists from Jamaica, Trinidad, Barbados and Guatemala. The music was recorded by B'alam Jay aka House Of Jaguars which is a Spanish/English Reggae band from Los Angles. Produced by Who Dun It, the horns were added in Barbados giving the track a spicy flavor. The first song on the riddem was Vitamina by Tekun of B'alam Jay. Assassin Agent Sasco was voiced in Los Angeles and he loved the tune so much it was featured on his album Theory of Reggativity.”.

In 1990 WHO DUN IT RECORDS was founded in San Diego, California by drummer Theo Butler and bassist Ras Iboes. The drum & bass duo met while playing in Reggae bands while Theo was attending San Diego State University. The duo built Tipton Studio with the help of Lou “Omar” Brown and started recording several Reggae, World Music and R&B artists in Southern California. Who Dun It Records first release was the debut album from Itopia in 1992.
San Diego in the early 90’s was looked at as the next big music city as Jewel. Big Mountain and Stone Temple Pilots had all recently been signed. The music business was a focus for Theo and he took a job with Virgin Records as a college intern. Shortly after graduating from school, Theo was quickly promoted to National Director of College Marketing at Virgin Records and relocated to Los Angeles. Ras Iboes remained in San Diego and the duo frequently met up to record and perform in various bands.
As a radio and marketing executive for Virgin Records, Theo worked on campaigns for Shaggy, UB40, Maxi Priest, Ben Harper, Cracker and Lenny Kravitz. With a Reggae music focus Theo was hired at Mesa/Bluemoon/Atlantic Records as the National Director of Promotion to work with artists such as Aswad, Mystic Revealers, Black Uhuru, Steel Pulse and R&B legend Randy Crawford. The music business can be harsh at times and Theo discovered early on the importance of developing a strong working relationship with the artists.
Who Dun It Records quietly lived on as a new studio was built in Los Angeles. The drum and bass duo continued to record riddems and artists when they would pass through town. In 2006 Ras Iboes passed away but lives on as his bass lines are woven into years of recordings which are now being remixed and released.
“Creating music is something that brings joy to my life. Nothing is more fun then listing to a finished mix and knowing you have a hit tune.”
